About the home

A purposeful place to grow.

The Almond Tree has been developed around the principle that children should experience a home — not simply a placement. The name itself carries meaning: almond trees are among the first to blossom, symbolising resilience, new beginnings and the quiet strength that emerges even from difficult conditions.

The home provides consistent boundaries while ensuring children experience warmth, respect, emotional availability and predictable relationships. Staff seek to understand what has happened to a child, not simply react to their behaviour.

Child-centred

Wishes, feelings and aspirations are at the centre of every decision.

Trauma-informed

Understanding what has happened — not just reacting to behaviour.

Relationship-based

Consistent, trusted adults who children can depend on.

Strengths-based

Every child has talent and potential — our role is to help them find it.

Our care philosophy

Healing through relationship.

We believe that change happens through relationship. Every interaction is an opportunity to build trust, model safety and show a child that they matter. Our approach is rooted in attachment theory, therapeutic parenting and a deep commitment to understanding each child's unique story.

Referrals & placements

Who we support.

The Almond Tree supports children with a range of complex emotional and behavioural needs. We consider planned, crisis/emergency and therapeutic referrals — subject to individual matching, safeguarding and our registration.

Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties

Children presenting with EBD, emotional dysregulation, challenging behaviour and difficulties developing safe relationships.

Trauma & Attachment

Children with trauma histories, attachment difficulties, previous placement breakdown and disrupted education.

Crisis & Emergency Placements

Crisis/emergency placements considered where safe and appropriate. Placement duration is individual — not driven by a fixed timescale.

The Almond Tree is not a secure children's home and does not provide secure accommodation. All referrals are subject to individual matching, compatibility assessment and safeguarding review.

What we aim to achieve

Greater stability. A future they can believe in.

The Almond Tree aims to support children to achieve greater emotional stability, improved placement stability, positive and trusted relationships with adults and increased confidence and self-esteem. We want every child to leave with the belief that they have a future worth building.
